Position Overview

The Content & Communications Chair leads the strategic direction of all organizational communications, ensuring alignment across platforms and consistency in voice, messaging, and impact. This role oversees multiple content channels and volunteer-led teams, helping translate our mission into clear, engaging, and evidence-based communications that grow and engage our community.

This is a working board role focused on strategy, coordination, and accountability. Volunteer teams are responsible for execution, while the Chair provides direction, oversight, and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of an integrated content and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee alignment across social media, blog, resource hub, and website content
  • Partner with team leads to guide priorities, planning, and workflows across content areas
  • Provide oversight and accountability to volunteer team leads, supporting consistency and follow-through
  • Establish and monitor key metrics to evaluate reach, engagement, and impact
  • Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s voice, values, and evidence-based approach
  • Support content planning tied to events, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to expand visibility, audience growth, and community engagement
  • Provide strategic insight during Board meetings related to communications and growth

Ideal Qualifications

  • Background in marketing, communications, content strategy, or a related field
  • Experience leading or advising multi-channel content or brand strategies
  • Strong understanding of digital engagement, audience growth, and performance metrics
  • Experience guiding teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to operate at a strategic level while supporting volunteer-led execution
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, health, or workplace wellbeing spaces is a plus

Board Member Expectations

  • Participate in strategic planning and governance
  • Attend and prepare for Board meetings
  • Support fundraising and resource development efforts
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization
  • Estimated commitment: 4–8 hours per month

  • Board members are encouraged to contribute at a level that is meaningful to them and to actively support fundraising efforts. Many of our board members contribute between $600–$1,200 annually
