Dorothy has seen both sides of governance – having served as an Executive Director as well as a board member. Her training as a facilitator allows her to help with the tough conversations that boards face. Her deep financial background qualifies her for finance and audit committee roles as she has done for a number of nonprofits and previously for for-profit entities. Her nonprofit client coaching work also includes talent management, revenue strategy, policies and governance, fiscal sponsorship and grant management. During many of her nonprofit board and executive tenures, she has guided organizations through mergers.
Dorothy is passionate about inclusive climate-friendly community development. She has been engaged in a wide range of sectors including community development financing, health care, criminal justice, integrated land use and regenerative farming, housing, entrepreneurship and renewable energy. She served as Board Chair of Capital for Change, the Connecticut Community Development nonprofit providing financing for nonprofits, affordable housing development and energy-efficiency. She is a board member of the Highstead Foundation which supports botanical research and collaboration among regional environmental, land use and community-based organizations.
