Detailed Information

The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra’s mission is to bring the highest level of symphonic orchestral music to the region through exceptional performances, innovative educational programs, and a commitment to integrating the arts into the life of the community. The ASO also serves to encourage the development of superb orchestral musicians, by providing a wide range of performance opportunities within a challenging but nurturing musical environment.  Formed in 1946 as the Hingham Civic Orchestra – and reorganized, professionalized, and renamed 50 years later – Atlantic Symphony Orchestra has deep roots in the South Shore with a long and distinguished history as one of the oldest community orchestras in the Boston area.

The ASO public performance season is designed to serve all residents of the communities of Greater Boston and the South Shore with accessible, high-quality live performances, and the regional community of professional classical musicians with employment and career development. A typical, fully funded season (October – April, with a “soft opening” in August) brings 3-4 symphonic concerts, 2-4 chamber concerts, and education focused concerts.

The ASO’s 12 member board of directors provides strategic guidance and support to the organization.

We are seeking new members who are committed to our mission, fully participate in board meetings and board committees, and broaden our community connections and donor support through their  expertise and personal networks.

Is there an annual minimum give ($)?
