Since 2001, Belmont World Film (BWF) has been broadening horizons through the screening of the world’s top films followed by discussions led by expert speakers in an effort to create cultural exchanges and understanding. Screenings are also frequently accompanied by cultural performances and international food experiences. You’ll hear accents and opinions from all over the world at our screenings!
BWF began with the premise that foreign-language film is not only a vehicle for hearing another language in action, but it can also foster an emotional understanding of other cultures.
BWF presents an annual international film series in the spring, a two weekend-long Family Festival during Martin Luther King Day weekend and beyond, and other special events throughout the year. We work with consulates, cultural organizations, and local and international organizations involved in global issues in an effort to heighten awareness and encourage people of all ages to think about making a difference in the world.
We meet approximately once per month (sometimes on Zoom) and the time commitment varies, with more of a commitment between December and May with anywhere between 0–5 hours/week. We seek board members who are interested in film and cultural understanding with the following skills:
- Accounting & Finance
- Fundraising
- Outreach
- Marketing, including publicity
- Film background and connections
Board members communicate with one another and with the executive director to create a sense of community and a remarkable experience for our audience members.
