In addition to the typical responsibilities of a Director, the Treasurer of the Board (ÒTreasurerÓ) has the following responsibilities: Basic Functions:
    • Acts as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer of the Corporation unless an individual is hired by the Board for this purpose.
    • Keeps, or causes to be kept, regular books of account, accounting records and procedures, funds, securities and valuable papers of the Corporation.
    • Reports to the Board of Directors at regular intervals regarding the financial condition of the Corporation; and ensures that a true and accurate accounting of the financial transactions of the Corporation is made. This report must include a balance sheet and profit & loss.
    • Prepares or oversees all reports and filings required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Internal Revenue Service, and other governmental agencies.
    • Oversees the Executive Director in the receipt and disbursement of the monies of the Corporation.
    • Serves as Co-Chair of the Finance Committee with the Executive Director.
Additional Responsibilities:
    • Conducts an internal audit of the Corporation annually, or oversees an independent audit if the organizationÕs operating budget requires such an audit to be completed in accordance with State law.
    • Advises the Board on the reasonableness of the budget prepared by the Executive Director and assists the Executive Director in its preparation as needed..
    • Provides a 3-year or 5-year projection to the Board when requested for planning purposes or otherwise required.
    • Physically attends Board Meetings.
