OPICA is an non-profit organization serving adults with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Located in West Los Angeles, we are seeking Board members that will reflect our very diverse community. Due to recent retirements, we have an opportunity to add 4 new Board members. If you work with older adults in the financial, trust, or similar spaces, please let me know and I will send you our
OPICA fills a critical need serving people whose lives are impacted by dementia—cognitive decline severe enough to interfere with daily life (Alzheimer’s is the most common type). Because dementia profoundly affects the lives of the whole family, OPICA offers services that support the diagnosed individual and their caregivers equally. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for as many individuals and their families as possible. We make a positive impact one adult at a time, one family at a time.
For over 42 years OPICA has served adults experiencing memory loss and their families, in a multicultural, multiracial tapestry. We wish to replicate our membership’s diversity with a board of directors of inclusion. The OPICA Board of Directors, as the decision-making body, play a critical role in continuing the priorities supporting diversity and inclusion among our members and works to create the same within the Board.
Board committees include Advancement, Finance, Governance, Human Resources, Luncheon, and Strategic Planning. Board directors are expected to serve on at least one committee. Board meetings occur every other month (six times per year). Directors are elected to three-year terms and are expected to meet a $2,500 give/get while personally donating any amount to three primary funding activities. Candidates do not need to have previously served on a nonprofit board of directors.
